The common theme of these two articles provided is how two men helped the new settlements in Georgia with their two different ideals. Georgia was one of the last established colonies and the early settlers consisted of the unfortunate population of the poor and debtors. These two articles focus on the two visionary people who devoted themselves to helping the newly formed colonies grow and become successful with their own unique approaches

In the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, Whitefield united thoughtless indifferent people through religion. During this period there were no materials or workforce to settle this new province of Georgia and the only people attempting to settle there were unfit to endure the hardships of a new settlement. So, it can also be said that the driving factor for uniting people is somewhat patriotism.

The theme of establishing a colony is significant since it plays a major role in American history as well as in the world. No matter what path the people choose to help the colonization, they made a major contribution to the society and community. Whitefield took the religious approach whereas, Oglethorpe took the political approach. Although both of these approaches were different, they were each successful to help unite people and lead the community positively. With so much success throughout history these approaches are still being practiced even now. Apart from the political and religious approach,
