Electric cars are cars that are propelled by one electric motor or more. The motor is powered by electrical energy stored in batteries or another energy storage device. These cars were popular in the late 19th century and early 20th century until the advance in internal combustion and mass production of cheaper gasoline. Electric cars have a lot of benefits like less air pollution and no tailpipe, which also does not give of pollution unlike a regular gas car. These amazing cars help not only you with money but also the whole United States with less dependence on foreign oils. Cars that are electric cost a lot more than a normal combustion car because the battery packs for these machines are very expensive, but prices are coming down with the mass production. One of the biggest fears by drivers of an electric car is running out of battery before reaching there destination due to range limits on electric cars.  Electric cars were popular in the late 19th century and early 20th century. The mass production of gasoline cars made by companies such as Ford reduced the price of gas cars, which led to a decline in the use of electric propulsion. This removed electric cars from important markets in the United States. As a result to higher gas prices, concerns of air pollution, improvements in battery technology, and the prospect of peak oil electric cars are more popular.

Before internal combustion engines, electric cars held many speed and distance records. 1896 the exchangeable battery service was put into practice by Hartford Electric Light Company for electric trucks. Despite there slow speeds compared to gas cars electric vehicles had a number of advantages over their early 1900s competitors. They did not have vibration, smell, and noise associated with gasoline cars. Also they did not require gear changes, which was the hardest part of driving a gasoline car. One of the biggest factors is they didn’t need a manual start unlike a gas car which had a hand crank to start the engine. These features made it more suitable for women with there easy operating system. The global economic recession in the late 2000s led to the abandon of fuel-inefficient SUV’s. There is a lot of science and thought put into these machines and it will pay of in couple years when everyone is driving electric cars.
