The Industrial Revolution was a change from socially to economically. The Industrial Revolution started in England in 1750. It had many positive and negative effects in the enviroment they live, to where their health, and even the need in materials. Children began to work in mills, people moved from farms to cities otherwise known as urbanization.

During the Industrial Revolution workers children became worker and became known as Child Labor. Children worked 12-18 hours a day, they were whipped to be kept awake and had no time for school. A 28 yr old man named William Cooper gave a testimony of his life in the mills. He began to work when he was 10 and he worked from 5 in the morning till 9 in the night. He only had one meal which lasted 40 minutes in the 16 hours that he worked. They were strapped in order to keep you awake. He had no time for school and he can't write only read. This was bad because many kids weren't able to attend school which didn't help them academically. Also not knowing how to read or write can cause accident on machinery if they don't know which machinery to use.

Not only was education a problem, Child labor caused dieseases. Children were given dangerous jobs like going into small places under the machine which caused accidents and injuries, sometimes even death. Others were hired to dig coal which later on led to damaged lungs. Joseph Hebergam, a male who have damaged lungs, non-functional leg muscles and will not support the weight of his bones. He was told by his doctor that he will dies within a year, it was caused by the dust in the factories, overwork and insufficient diet. He wasn't the other one, his brother died from a cut that was infection due to a machine. A boy was caught in a machine and broke his thigh bones, his sister was trying to help him but broke her arms and bruised her head.

Not only was the work for children dangerous, the places these workers lived were unsanitary and they lived in one or two-storied houses. The streets they lived on were full of holes, and filthy. There is garbage in front of their doors. This caused diesease and problems between these families sharing one room. They would fill dozens of families
