Swaziland Case

Swaziland is a small country that lies in Southern Africa. There is a rich king, named King Mswati III, who rules Swaziland; who lives a vastly luxurious life. However, Swaziland is a very poor country, the middle class and the poor can barely afford to put food on the table. The double standards of a wonderful life of luxury for the king and his officials contrast with that of the lower classes that are suffering in poverty. This is enraging the poor people. Teachers and government workers on the nation's picket lines demand a 4.5% salary increase that has not yet been granted. Swaziland is a country where two-thirds of the country lives on $2 per day, while the government raised the salaries of the Members of Parliament to $2,400 per month. The Swazi people think that the prime minister should be elected by the people. The king is the only one that can turn out Members of the Parliament and he is the one who selects them too. The Swazi Government is not listening to the voice of its people and is making bad decisions so it is hurting the economy of the country and making it worse every day. The voting rights of the Swazi people are suppressed and most of the people live in grave poverty, unable to afford the basic amenities of life.
