It was so sad at the beginning when Alpheo was being separated from his brother he just found, Benson. But when Benson escaped, I knew they wouldn't be separated long. Benson is so strong- just like the other boys in this book, but he had the nerve to get up and keep going, even if it meant going alone- event thought he was the youngest- to try an survive and get to civilization. When Benson made it to Kakuma, I knew Benjamin wouldn't be too far behind. I was so happy and relieved when all of them got reunited in Kakuma, and I was also happy they were in Kakuma-but then that changed. I felt bad for the boys, they were starving again, and being discriminated again- after all they've been through. Thankfully, the best thing that could have happened, happened: The boys were going to America!!! It was so funny when they were saying that white people are white because they eat different foods and drink soda- it just shows how much they do not know because of their conditions they were living in. I was so happy they finally made it here to start off an amazing life... they deserved it! I wish the Authors would have elaborated about what they thought about America- I know they talked about the TV and shows on it, and I thought that was interesting to know. But I wish they would have gave more detail about what they did when they got here and how their lives played out. I really hope Emmanuel and Peter make it here... I want to help every single on of these boys after reading this book. It's opened my eyes to show me how ungrateful I am and how I should be thankful for every second I have of my wonderful life, because I know if I were these boys- I would not be alive. It was very humbling to read this book because I was hearing it from a first person perspective. I know I'm definitely going to appreciate life more. But anyways, I loved this book! What a rewarding ending to such a horrible experience!
