Unlike the Gherardinis, who mostly lied on their unearned imcome, the Giocondos had always worked, first as simple craftsmen and later as manufacturers and dealers of silk.

[2] He had three marriages and in 1491 he married Camilla Mariotto Rucellai, while Thomas Mariotto Villani became his wife in 1493 . On 5 March 1495 , he married Lisa Gherardini, girl of fifteen, from the aristocratic family of the Gherardini . The dowry of the girl was composed of 170 guilders and the farm's Eve, close to the house of his family, a sign that, at the time, the Gherardini family was not rich, this also proves the existence of a real feeling between Lisa and Francis.
