Is technology making people smarter as time goes by? Every corner we turn there's technology; we have technology in our back pockets. There are flat screens, iPods, ipads, nooks reader, kindles, cell phones and the most famous the internet, but who would have ever thought there was a time period where books were being burned by firemen, in the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. A book the simplest thing of our time period so simple, hardly anyone ever picks one up. Why would the firemen of Fahrenheit 451 dislike a book so much?

Well as little as a book is it can be filled with tons of information. The more you read the more information you are capable of retaining and the smarter you become. Exactly that was what the firemen did not want. The reason that the firemen burned the books is because the government wanted to keep everyone from basically thinking outside of the box. You see without these books the people would enjoy nature watch television, and listen to their seashell radios. Today a seashell radio would be like an ipod where we escape to listen to music. To the firemen and government burning the books would keep everyone equal. Just to think all the books that was burned in all the fires. "Instead of putting the fire out they themselves would start it."

Today a book might be the least of our worries, but what if there never where books? Would technology still evolve as it did? In my opinion, I feel the average person would not be able to retain as much information as we do today. Why? Well because I feel books led to all the technology, and with all this technology we have the advantage of learning more and are capable of retaining much information. Since we're learning off of something we admire, like a laptop, computer etc.

In conclusion, we should learn from the book Fahrenheit 451 and take care of the technology we have today. What we do with this technology foreshadows what will happen to it in the future. I am very appreciative of the technology we have today. Not that books are outdated I still love to pick one up and read.
