Let It Snow

In the portrait by Morley Hubert, the title states "Pitch in and Help!" Hubert drew the portrait for the women who had husbands in the forces during World War II. The occupation was to join the women's land army of the U.S. corps to help farm owners with labor work. Such as harvesting different foods, caring for farm animals, and weeding. Throughout the portrait there are many appeals for visual arguments that catch my eye. Three that I see visualized through the portrait are the need to nature, the need to achieve, and physiological needs. These three appeals all have data to support them and warrants as well. Hubert drew this portrait for a reason and with the different appeals, they all can be supported. The portrait is very effective by showing many ways how women could join the team and help our nation.

The first claim, or as known as the appeal, shown in the portrait is the need to nurture. The need to nature means to take care of small, defenseless creatures, usually children or pets. Perfect example for the need to nature as in the portrait, the women are taking care of the animals by feeding the chickens and milking the cow, also by the women driving the tractor where she could be mowing the farm land and the women picking the fresh vegetables from the farm. The data behind this appeal is not only the bold letters, but it's what the women are doing in the image. That instantly catches the women's eye that labor work is guaranteed and going to have to be done. The warrant behind this claim would be authoritative due to the fact that harvesting and nurturing any major farm land has to be done in order for all businesses or manufactures to earn money.

The second appeal visualized in the portrait is the need to achieve. The need to achieve is to accomplish goals, overcome obstacles, and surpass others. In the portrait it is obvious that women are determined to complete different obstacles. You don't find many women these day's that are that determined to complete a mission unlike back in the past. Many of these obstacles had to be accomplished due to the lack of males that could participate. The data behind it is all the women doing their own thing in the portrait, especially a women driving the tractor. Unlike today, many women are not seen driving tractors on farm land. Since the lack of males back then it had to be done, so the women had to get down and dirty and learn how to drive the tractor and take care of business. The warrant behind it would be suffiency, due to the goals that are being met and that all the criteria is being met for achieving what needs to be done for the women's land army.

The last appeal that I visualized in the portrait is physiological needs which means products that often needs and stresses the satisfaction the products will bring. The data behind this claim is shown on the portrait. For example it shows the women milking the cow and picking
