Titanic

The film Titanic, is a romance and disaster themed movie directed, written, co-produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. Released in 1997, the film features Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson and Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater. The film achieved commercial success by being nominated fourteen Academy Award nominations and winning eleven of them. This film showed mostly a side of romance and tragedy but also that some events are just unpredictable.

The movie starts off as treasure hunter Brock Lovett and his crew investigate the Titanic for the famous "Heart of the Ocean". After recovering a safe, which everyone thought the necklace was kept in, they find a painting of a young woman instead. Brock and his team thought they hit a dead end, but a woman named Rose Calvert see's Lovett on T.V. and later contacts him saying that she is the woman in the drawing.

Lovett and his team fly the woman in and she tells them an unforgettable story about what really happened on the fateful day the Titanic sank. The film then introduces Jack Dawson, a penniless man who wins tickets to sail on the Titanic with his friend. Jack first meets Rose when she attempts to kill herself by jumping off the ship because she is distraught about her forced engagement. He rescues her and Rose's fiancé Cal is forced to invite Jack to their first class dinner to express his gratitude. After their dinner, Jack and Rose later sneak off to the third-class deck and Jack shows Rose the time of her life by dancing and having fun, something she had not experienced with her snobbish fiancé and mother. Cal grows increasingly jealous of Jack and Rose's relationship and plans an attempt to frame Jack of stealing a priceless diamond necklace, the "Heart of the Ocean". Then, Cal has Jack locked up in the lower parts of the ship, while the ship hits the iceberg. This leads Rose to find and save Jack while everyone is already being evacuated and the ship starts to fill with freezing cold water. As people are in hysteria, chaos ensues as people fight over each other to try and make it to the lifeboats to make it to safety. Rose finally finds Jack and rescues him while they make it back up to the deck of the ship. The ship then starts to sink even further and the ship eventually snaps in half and Rose and Jack are thrown into the freezing cold water. There is a wooden plank that Jack finds and makes Rose float on as they wait for a rescue tea to find them. Shortly after, Jack dies from hypothermia and sinks to the bottom of the ocean. Rose is rescued and starts a new life by changing her name to Rose Dawson. After Rose finishes her story, it is revealed that she had the "Heart of the Ocean" necklace the whole time and she throws it into the ocean where it sinks into oblivion.

The main themes to this film are: romance, tragedy, and unpredictability.
