Using the data analysis knowledge from the unit and the support of the One-search UWA website, there are a lot of data and reports related with the topic. After the collecting and studying on these resources, the research showed higher salary level consists of fair gender pay gap, higher education level and longer work experience in Western Australia. In this paper, there are some backgrounds and details of the research showing firstly. Then the research analyses from three aspects: GPG, education level and experience separately. In this section, an amount of statistics is given to prove the statements. Finally, base on the discussion parts, the article shows a brief conclusion, several recommendations and future directions.

Introduction

“Do you wanna a high salary and increase it every year?” When someone asks you about this question, what will you answer them? There are three choices: A: of course, B: just so-so or C: no at all. Normally, there should be a high percentage for A if there is no any additional requirement. For many people, high income level gives a support for the high quality and free life. However, in the real life, the level of salary is changed by several factors, such as certificate, job, experience, gender, major, and education. This paper chose three main aspects gender, work experience and education level as the main factors to analysis the impact in Western Australia. According a series of research, gender is a quite different one among these factors, which is normally called gender pay gap (GPG) with a negative influence for the salary level. (Hilary, 2012) In Australia, a gender pay gap exists in all states, especially Western Australia with the largest one. (Patricia & Joan, 2013) For another two elements: work experience and education level, the data shows positive influence that the higher education level and the longer work experience, the higher salary level. Consequently, in order to gain a high income level, it is necessary to reduce even eliminate the gender gap and keep working and studying. However, with the rush development of economics and society level, the impact of these three aspects changes quickly in Australia. Thus, the study has to keep digging deeply and involve the other aspects in it.

Discussion

1、Gender Pay Gap (GPG)

In Cambridge Business English Dictionary, gender pay gap shows the difference between the amounts of money paid to male and female while they are doing the same work. Form the word meaning, it is hard to identify the gender pay gap impact whether it is positive or negative. Base on the different characteristics between male and female, it is obvious and normal to see a disparity in their work performance which can determine the salary level. However, it could not be an excuse to increase the gap and ignore the unfair. Individuals suffer a great pressure from the consequences of the GPG in economic and social area. In addition, business and governments have the same problem. (Patricia & Joan, 2013) According to the report posted by Australian government, during the period between 1991 and 2004, gender pay gap has expanded from 17.5 per cent to 22.6 per cent, even it increased to 26.9 per cent in 2007. (Patricia & Joan, 2013)  Among all the states in Australia, it is the largest gap which means the female employer suffers a great pressure from their gender even though the richest person in WA is Gina Rinehart. These data makes government pay extra attention to analysis and deal with the gap without any other choice.

Furthermore, a lot of industrialized countries are in the same situation as WA. According to the study of Hilary in 2012, female full time employer earns 89.8% of male in UK 2010, 82% in Europe 2008 and only 64.5% in Canada 2008.Meanwhile, the report pointed that base on a large of statistics across all the industrialized countries, median full time earnings of female were 82.4% of male. (United Nations Development Program 2009) In particular area Perth, the average earnings of female is $20183 less than male.

2、Education level

Education is a great cost of a family both of time and money. Thus, whether it is could bring the higher financial benefits or not, which mainly are reflected by salary level, becomes a great element to determine the student enrolment and the acceptance of higher education. According to the data in Pay Scale, the workers who have finished their master degree have great superiority than the bachelor’s degree on their salaries. During the research, there is also extra attention to the difference between the majors, which may increase the gap. Although the major could produce the disparity for salary, it should be discuss in the future study which is focus on the education area specially. The study in Western Australia about the relationship between education level and salary is quite few and less of systematicness and unity. As a part of income, government recently increases the study fee every year especially for the International students. Obviously, it could bring great benefits for economics. However, in a long term, it may reduce the number of students, damage the public policy and lose the balance between economics and social society. Thus, much more attention has to be paid on this area.
