Leadership Assessment

When I was taking this assessment, as I was answering the questions I was going back at all of the experiences I had as I matured as a leader. The ups and downs the success and the failures. I was also thinking of the future and what I have learned up to this point in my education. The scores in this assessment surprised me a little, I had scored higher than I thought I would. The assessment was based from six different types of characteristics of leadership. Ambassador which knows how to handle a variety of situations. Advocate tends to be the rational of the group. People mover helps to motivate the people using compassion and understanding. Truth seeker is fair and has a level head helps people to understand what they might not. Creative builder or visionaries and entrepreneurs. Experienced Guide can help guide others to think for themselves.

This was interesting test it gave me an insight of where I stand as a leader. I score and average of 20 on this test. I scored the highest on ambassador, creative builder, and experience guide. I will usually make sure that everything is calm and will always think things through. I have always been on the for front of many ideas on how something should go but I will listen to ideas that might be better than mine. Teaching someone what I know or how to do something has been one of the traits I have. I would like to see everyone on my team succeed. I was a little surprised at the truth-seeker section I thought I would have scored high on that on but had a score of 19 out of 25.

As a manager, my goal has always been to meet the quota or the agenda set in before me. When I use to manage, my goal was to make sure that the leaders rules were followed. It was my job to make sure the numbers were always up and that my crew was motivated. I did this several ways mostly with a “good job” and a pat on the back. If something needed changing I would bring this up with the boss and explain why. As an owner, my main goal was always on the future, what can I do to make sure that the doors stay open. I would often ask the opinions of employee’s or customers for their feedback.

Leadership means “the ability of an individual to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organizations of which they are members.” ("Leadership Vs Management", n.d.). Leaders set the pace in an organization, the set the standard on how the organization run. If leader a is enthusiastic about what the company is doing the rest of the crew will be enthusiastic as well. A leader focuses on what the future will bring and how to reach those goals through organization and the vision to change if needed. A leader is the spearhead of the organization.
