This talk is designed to highlight the many important stages of the Recruitment and Selection process, and to equip us with competencies necessary to ensure a successful selection is made every time.

It is often said that people are an organization's greatest asset and in many organizations this is certainly true. One thing that is certain is that recruiting someone is a major investment decision. If you are a manager, are you viewing it this way? The key to a successful organisation is having the right people in the right jobs. This applies equally whether the person is a new recruit or a potential transfer from another area. And that I realised making the RIGHT choice is chief at the stages of the recruitment process and the range of techniques, as well as in our daily livings.

Choice is the ability to select one course of action from a set of alternatives to achieve a goal. Life is like a chess game. Make the best moves we can under the circumstances. For example, I failed in the first job interview. I might either choose to render up and whine about that, or introspect myself honestly then keep moving ahead.

Many of us may be undergoing great hardships, not just surrounding the hand of working, but everything in life. In fact, no life is so difficult that it cannot be made better by improving our attitude. If we search for something to complain about, we will surely find it. Choose to search for good. Choose to live with hope, rather than despair. And learn to cope.

We cannot choose what will happen TO us, but we can choose what happens IN us. That is, we can choose to have the right attitude, one in which we view challenges as opportunities instead of problems. Opportunity seems to come more often to those who have the right attitude; especially the manager usually keeps his/her eyes peeled for a candidate's attitude during the interview.
