ROLE OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOR ORGANIZATION IN MANAGEMEN DEVELOPMENT

In the field of management and development, International Labor Organization (ILO) engaged the services of developing expert managers as part of its technical cooperation activities.

This illustrate the magnitude of its management development programs, the ILO has arranged study tours abroad for more than 800 managers and administrators from developing countries, and it has provided management training equipment worth some $5 million. The system is reinforced today by a network of regional advisers who are based at strategic points around the globe and who are available to counsel governments and employers and workers' bodies.

Most of the technical cooperation projects undertaken by the ILO are financed through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

-United Nations Public Administration Division (UNPAD) in creating advanced management training for civil servants as well as for the management staff of enterprises for the training of management consultants and for the introduction of modern management concepts and methods into the private and public sectors in developing countries.

-United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in promoting the adoption of management education in formal education system.

-United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in the field of industrial management and management training.

-United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) on participative teaching methods.

-United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on diversification of commodities.

-European Foundation for Management Development in determining regional action to strengthen the development of management as a profession.

-International Council for Scientific Management (ICSM) in determining international action to strengthen national professional associations of management.
