Introduction

Situational Leadership can be defined as the ability of the company administration or the authority being able to modify their leadership styles to cater to the needs of the employees and have an impact on their performance (Bedford and Gehlert, 2013). This method involves modification of leadership to address the company issues depending on the situation.

In this paper, I will present my former supervisor, Mr. John. He possesses these situational leadership characteristics. I have worked with this individual under his leadership for at least three years.  His skills have significantly influenced the performance of the organization. His skills can also be adopted by health care system in improving their managemnet skills.

Situational leadership

Mr. John as a situational leader is viewed as the company dialect and a system for employees to rise above their environmental, social and language limitations. The formulation of this scheme involves the leaders to seek the employee’s requirement of the team and then apply the most suitable leadership style to respond to their needs. This method allows him to interact, help freely and motivates the employees on the importance of teamwork and assistance. If this skill is adopted it can play an imperative role in encouraging health workers.

The situational leadership allows John to modify his leadership strategies, personality and their style of leading to work together with an employee for the benefit of the organization. The situational leadership theory is the most unusual approach for a manager or a leader to get the best from the individual and positively influence their performance. When leaders apply this method, they can direct their employees and control them easily.

This leadership style has enabled the employees to cooperate, to seek help and John were able to support each employee throughout the task. Additionally, he also develops trust to his staff in each decision he made. The management may apply a mix of these methods so as he or she can effectively and efficiently influence their needs to perform for the benefit of the company. If the workers are not able to adapt to the system and utilize their ability to act accordingly in accomplishing their tasks the whole system will fail (Sethuraman and Suresh, 2014).

The implementation of situational leadership the company management always balance between their structural, systematic and sympathetic characters. The critical leadership behavior makes them to entirely rely on the structure, giving employees direction and general company management. In the sensitive response style, the firm’s management entirely depends on the teamwork, commendation, and motivation of individual efforts this has a significant impact on the performance of the institution.

This leadership theory allowed John to develop an effective leadership strategy since it helps him in making decision making, increase the production and reduce the mistrust in the organization. The method makes all levels of management to coordinate efficiently and therefore the company’s performance will improve significantly. The situational leadership makes the employees feel free and fulfillment towards themselves.

The qualities of leadership regarding the management of employees at the workplace, the leadership qualities are provided by leaders at the low maturity levels. John as the company manager serves as peoples servants because he can lead by showing an excellent example, for instance, working to achieve the company’s target. He does his best to achieve the firm objectives, by doing this the employees are motivated to work hard hence improving the company’s performance. When making his decision, he makes sure that the choices can significantly influence the performance of the firm.
