Company Analysis Proposal

The multinational enterprise (MNE) is a nationally based company with overseas operations in multiple countries (Luthans & Doh, 2008). Company A is a Japanese multinational enterprise (MNE) headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It is diversified business includes consumer and professional electronics and gaming. The company is one of the leading producers of electronic products for the consumer and professional markets. Company A has its parent company, which engages in business through its operating components of electronics in video games, motion pictures, and music in Tokyo. In this company analysis research proposal, the actual company name is not revealed due to the request of company management whom I interviewed. Also, Company A managers whom I talk to requested confidentiality of their names, so this company analysis case study will refer to them as survey participants and avoid identification of individuals.

What distinguishes the multinational media enterprise (such as the Company A) from other types of MNEs is that the principle product that is being sold is entertainment and information. This company analysis is a case study analysis of Company A; Company A being a leading MNE in the production and sale of consumer electronics, music and motion picture entertainment and video game technology.

This company analysis case study will research Company A’s international business strategy; to understand the essential elements of this company’s effective global strategy and business operation. This study will examine the company’s global operations and strategies used to conduct business internationally. This study will analyze politics, economics, legal and workforce demographic challenges and opportunities that Company A experiences in its global business operations. To conduct this case study research project, scholarly articles and publications are used to understand the international market in electronics, gaming, and music.

There are two major parts to this company analysis case study. Part one examines brief history and development of Company A. It builds on the theoretical framework of Inamori (Inamori, 1997; Inamori, 2009), Matsushita (Kotter, 1997) and Kotter (Kotter, 2012) that the business strategies and organizational culture of a company are often a reflection of the leaders who were responsible for developing the organization and business mission.

The second part examines the Company A form the standpoint of business strategy. Significant attention is given to the subject of organizational culture and strategic decision-making. The Company A is decidedly Japanese in its business values (Harvard Business Review, Brett, Doz, Meyer, & Gregersen, 2016; Morris-Suzuki, 1994). This is starting to change in the face of global competition and the need to improve business performance (Frieden, 2007; Gordon, 2001; Maynard, 2009; Rivoli, 2014; Rodrik, 2012).
