Bilbo Baggins a boring hobbit changes for the better and goes on a quest to recapture lost treasure and land stolen by the evil dragon Smaug. Gandalf finds Bilbo to visit him and ask him if he would want to be the burglar on his journey to recapture what used to be there's. "I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, It is very difficult to find anyone." (4) This shows that Gandalf is interested in Bilbo to answer the call or opportunity and go on the quest with him and the dwarves. In J.R.R Tolkien's The Hobbit Bilbo Baggins goes on a Heroic Journey and changes for the better.

The Threshold was when he defeated the trolls and crossed the edge of the wild. This meant that Bilbo is no longer being a boring hobbit but is now an adventurous and more open to new ideas. It was an important step of the journey because it made him more open-minded and it was the start of change for the better. It is also an important step in Bilbo's journey because he meets his mentors and helpers but he also meets his enemies and tempters. Gandalf and the dwarves played a huge role in influencing Bilbo to get up and get out instead of always being afraid, and constantly in fear.

The Threshold Guardians are going to be the dwarves because they are always there for them, Guiding him to success and helping him with change. Overall they are huge in Bilbo's journey, without the dwarves Bilbo is still in his hobbit hole. But Bilbo isn't ready for that big of a challenge yet which is good because Bilbo needs to focus on the little things. He is not the top warrior or fighter so they have to be cautious with Bilbo and get him in challenges he can handle. Like when they tell him to "go be a burglar and do some burglaring " they want him to get some food from these trolls. They are counting on him to get the food for the whole group by stealing from giant trolls. Bilbo has some confidence in himself to be a good burglar because he doesn't argue or fight and say I dont want to he just does it with a smile on his face. It is a good sign that Bilbo is confident because that will carry into his challenges that become more difficult.

Challenge #1 is when Bilbo encounters the goblins and wolves, when he encountered the wolves thay saw a lot of eyes all around them and then they rushed up the tree as the wolves ran out and tried to attack them as the scaled the tree. This was a bad situation for the dwarves because they would be stuck up there with nowhere to go.

Challenge #2 is when Bilbo had to out riddle Gollum with his life on the line. He could of died if he lost the riddle contest but he didn't lose, Gollum left for a second, and while he was gone Bilbo found this gold ring he put it on and he became invisible. As Gollum was planning to kill Bilbo anyway if he won or not, he came back and could not find him so he went to the door. Bilbo followed and found the exit
