Employment Conditions ; Current versus Past.

The condition of employment refers to the rules, procedures and regulations that both the employee and employer agree to at the beginning of a worker’s employment. The important items that might be brought up when discussing conditions of employment include employment qualification, environment of workplace and employee welfare. As time went on, the condition of employment has been improved and better than before. Therefore breaking conditions of employment can result in disciplinary procedures or dismissal.

Firstly, we can see the difference between the current and past condition of employment from the qualification of employment. With the rise of university placements nowadays, it was raise up the qualifications and the work experience are become the preferred attribute for employers to recruit the correct individual for the correct job position. However, this term is different in the previously as the low quality of education are cause the employers be forced to hire the unskilled employee to fill up the vacancy of their organization. Therefore, we can see that the qualification of employment has appeared a big changed with the improving of education.

Secondly, environment of workplace also changes from time to time. In current condition of workplace, the conflict appeared in between employees of an organization make the environment of workplace uncomfortable. This will make the employees feel stress when working and will also bring bad effect to the organization. Compare to the current situation, the environment in the past condition of employment is concentrate in team work and peaceful. They are building good relationships on joint problem solving and also develop from mentoring relationships between newcomers. Hence, the environment workplace of nowadays is stress and compete than the past condition.

Thirdly, the welfare of employee is also a term of the employment condition that needed to discuss. For example, wages is one of the important welfare of employees as they expect a return for the effort in their work. To be fair, the government has enforced all of the employers to use the minimum wage system to protect the low-grade labours’ benefit in order to increase their income. However, if compare with past century, the employees are being forced to receive any payment from the employers because they are not consist on any legal protection. Therefore, the welfare of current employment condition is better than the past condition of employment.

As a conclusion, if compare to the past century, the employment qualification and welfare currently are become much better and benefit the employees. However, the peaceful of the environment in the workplace destroyed because of the fierce competition nowadays and this is much different from the past century. Therefore, I hope that the employers allow the workers with more valuable workplace skills are more likely to be able to negotiate better employment conditions.
