An eerie feeling hangs over Elsinore, Denmark as the king, Hamlet Sr., has recently died and his brother Claudius has married into the kingship with the queen two short months after his death, to the displeasure of the son. Hamlet Jr. has recently been visited by his dad's ghost where he has been informed of the real circumstances of his father's death. After finding out that his Uncle Claudius had murdered his dad for the crown and his mother, Hamlet devotes himself to avenging his father's death and carrying out his will to kill Claudius. Hamlet puts on an antic disposition on that has not only effected his life, but has put an unwanted burden on all those that have put themselves in Hamlet's life, including his love Ophelia who ends up dying by either suicide or accident because of the death of her father. Trough a few tests to prove the truthfulness of the ghost, which included a play that portrayed the murder and hinting around his plans to his father through irony, Hamlet begins to plan the murder. After various delayed attempts by Hamlet to act on his plan, King Claudius trying to setup an assassination of the nephew Hamlet, and deaths from many people that have surrounded themselves with the situation, Hamlet comes face to face with his opportunity to execute his plan with a duel. Claudius has already setup his own plan to defend himself during the duel and let Laertes get revenge on Hamlet who had killed his father and was the cause of his sister's madness which led to her death. During the bout Laertes strikes Hamlet with his poisoned sword which leads to his own eventual death. Before bowing out, Hamlet kills Laertes with the poisoned sword, his father with the sword and a poisoned cup of wine, and his mother Gertrude accidently drinks the poisoned cup to celebrate Hamlet winning the duel. Hamlet lives long enough to complete a few more tasks in which he appointed a new king of the land, Fortinbras, and told his best friend Horatio to not kill himself so he could tell the story of Hamlet's actions to free his name of any guilt.
