Hard Work Leads To Success

The article Ticket to Nowhere by Andy Rooney is about how a guy named Jim Oakland, who has been always unlucky throughout his life. In order to become wealthy, he decides to play the lottery, hoping his luck will finally pay off. Jim spends all his life waiting for luck to win the lottery, but he is still a loser by the end of his life. In this article, the author shows us many instances that luck has brought people things that they never could even imagine. Life is full of twists and turns. Everyone has to struggle something in this world to overcome every obstacle in the way to success. For this, working hard is necessary. However, I do not see any rational in believing in luck to reach one's goals. Hard work is one of the most important factors when someone succeeds. People are hardly able to obtain any accomplishments, if they do not work with great effort. I wanted to be placed among the first three at the end of each examination. Since, I had a strong will power, so I worked hard all day long. I paid great attention to all that the teachers taught in the class, and I also spent a lot of times in studying in the library. At home, I would sit down at my study table for hours before going to play with my friends. I was confident of my position in the examinations. I managed to score high marks and me to my delight, the teacher announced my grade in the class. While she went on reading out each student's marks, I sat with bated breath. I waited expectantly for my name and she saw my anxiety. She put an end to my impatience and informed us that I had topped in my class with the highest marks in all the subjects. That day was indeed the beginning of a change in my life. Finally, a gold medal was awarded to me at the school annual day for my performance. Now, I realize that i can achieve almost anything if i have the will and determination.

Furthermore, luck does not always work out because luck is something intangible and no one can guarantee that it would ever come your way. If you depend only on luck for all your accomplishments,
