Quote 1: " Two truths are told, as happy prologues to the swelling act ".

Quote 2: " Stars, hide your fires; let not light see my black and deep desire: The eye wink at the hand! Yet let that be, which the eye fears, when it is done, to see ".

Quote 3: " ...bend up each corporal agent to this terrible feat "

Quote 4: " Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still"

Quote 5: " Stay, you imperfect speakers, tell me more "

Macbeth's one and only true desire is to be king of Scotland and rise to power. When he hears the three prophecies from the witches, two hold true, leaving Macbeth wondering whether the third will as well. The third prediction is for Macbeth to become King of Scotland and although Macbeth had not even thought about this before, it slowly becomes the only thing Macbeth can think of throughout first few acts. Macbeth admits this to himself when he says, "Let not light see my black and deep desire". Referring to his desire to be king and not wanting Duncan nor the others know. Macbeth believes that by killing King Duncan, he will be king and begins to visualize this happening when he says, "Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still". This desire to be king, fueled by Lady Macbeth is also a state of mind as Macbeth feels that it is of absolute need for him to rule Scotland and be in command. Although the entire idea spurred from a single prophecy recited by the witches, it has caused Macbeth to be a power hungry man with a raging ambition to be King of Scotland.
