JUSTIFICATION FOR

SUPPORT SQUADRON OF THE YEAR

CY-2013

INTRODUCTION

The 228TH Transport Crew Training Squadron is proud to report its exceptional and admirable accomplishments for the Calendar Year 2013 to 2014. With a mandated mission “to conduct training for airlift operations and other related functional activities of the 220th Airlift Wing”, the Squadron has once again proved to be a vital cog of the Wing in the training and education sector by accomplishing all the Programmed Training Courses, and further adding up several un-programmed courses. This fold of accomplishments was made possible simply because of the “Team Trainers” constant zeal and perseverance in the performance of their tasks regardless of how challenging or simple it may be.

l. PERSONNEL UTILIZATION, MORALE AND DISCIPLINE

  1. PERSONNEL UTILIZATION

This unit is presently manned by three (3) Officers and seventeen (17) Enlisted Personnel out of the authorized six (6) Officers and seventeen (17) EP. Though the fill in rate of the Squadron is just eighty seven percent (87%), it did not hinder the Unit’s 100% attainment of the Programmed Courses mainly because of proper personnel management and Multi-tasking.

  1. MORALE

The Squadron believes that the greatest motivator for a career oriented soldier is through enrichment of their knowledge. Hence, the Unit was able to send two (2) Officers to undergo foreign schooling of their respective courses at Australia through the Defense Cooperation Program (DCP), and one (1) Enlisted Personnel for Advanced NCO Course at Non Commission Officer School, Fernando Air Base, Lipa City. Four (4) personnel were also promoted to their respective next higher grade and Seven (7) personnel were reenlisted for another three (3) years into the regular force.

The Officers and Enlisted Personnel of this unit were also given various awards and commendations for their actual participation as Pilots, Aircrews and Ground Personnel to the various missions directed by the Command in response to man-made and natural calamities that has struck the country last year such as the Bohol Earthquake, Zamboanga Siege and the recent and devastating Super Typhoon “Yolanda”.

  1. TI & E PROGRAM

This unit is very supportive on scheduled and even unscheduled TI&E. Maximum attendance is given very much importance. In case any personnel is absent during TI & E for some valid reasons, disseminations & other important matters are being relayed during morning troop formation. This only shows that this squadron is very much concerned of what the personnel needs to know in line with what is happening to the Wing. On the other hand, the habit of awareness and involvement of personnel is being developed.
