The Right of Antigone

Imagine having to decide on something you think is right even if it's wrong and getting punished.

In the play Antigone written by Sophocles, the main character Antigone shows how she decides to

follow a better law instead of the law she has to follow. The law she decides to follow is the gods law.

The law she has to follow is Creon's, the king of Thebes. She decides to follow the gods law because

her brother Polynieces died and Creon doesn't want him to be buried, but the gods do. Creon decides

to punish Antigone because she doesn't follow his law . Antigone lets him punish her, but she knows

she did the right thing. Antigone didn't deserve getting punished because she was just following the gods

law to have her brother buried.

Antigone was right for burying her brother. She had the right because she was following the gods law.

The gods law is to be fair to everyone even if they did something wrong and that is why she decides to follow

the gods law. If Antigone's brother never died she would of not had to disagree with the law of Creon.
