REACTION PAPER:

"Community Organizing"

Last Sunday, August 18, 2013, our class, H-258, conducted a small gathering for less fortunate children near our school. At around 6-7am, we prepared ourselves and organized things for the program. We contributed for giveaway gifts then we arranged the chairs from the Daycare Center and fixed everything around the venue.

First of, we started guiding the kids and had them seated. Some of our classmates initiated the program and it turned out well. We introduced ourselves and we had short games with them. We were able to motivate the children to cooperate with us during the discussion and be active in games by giving those prizes. Afterwards, we started conducting lessons about First Aid. We demonstrated them the right things to do incase unexpected things occur. They learned all about the steps in what to do if a person is choking and how to conduct CPR. Even if they are still not at the right age to this kind of stuff, at least they know what to do as early as now. Each of them practiced and was able to perform it well. We are so proud of them for they were really determined to learn about first aid.

We had so much fun interacting with the kids. We felt so lucky that we had this chance of helping out others and teaching them what we learn in school. We are proud of their determination to learn and felt so great for having a pretty good community organizing. I'm looking forward into having this kind of activity again in the near future. 
