George S. Patton was born on November 11, 1885. Patton was a simple boy from California with dreams of the army. George came from a military family listening to war stories. He competed in the summer Olympics one year. At one time he was the master of the sword. He was given the nickname, Old Blood and Gut. A gift from a cowboy friend of his father's friend , he got ivory double pistols which are now in display at his museum. He was commented on his quirky attitudes and his behavior in battle. Before he died he was made a 4 star general.

Patton came from a military family. He had military people all

the way back to the civil war. He was born on November 11, 1885.

He came from a basic family, a mom and dad and two older sisters.

Patton attended Virginia Military Institute for one year. After that

he attended West Point .Patton participated in the 1912 Summer

Olympic in Stockholm. He finished fifth overall. In pistol shooting,

Patton placed 20th out of 32 contestants, placed seventh out of 37 contestants in the 300 meter freestyle swimming. He was fourth out of 29 fencers. Luckily he got third out of 15 contestants in the four kilometer cross-country footrace. He served as aide to then- John J. Pershing in the Punitive Expedition into Mexico. Master of the sword after he trained for one year with the greatest swords man in Europe. Then he made his own sword for the cavalry units in the army . Then he married Beatrice Banning Ayers. After all of this happened he was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

This is time is during WWI until WWII. Patton was promoted to captain Patton was assigned the newly formed United States Tank Corps

gun fire and was given the purple heart award was promoted to

lieutenant colonel promoted to full colonel. While on duty in D.C.

In 1919, Patton met Dwight D. Eisenhower Patton served in Hawaii before returning to D.C. In the late 1930s, Patton was assigned command of Fort Myer, Virginia. Col. Patton was given command of the 2nd Armored Brigade, in July 1940. He was promoted to Brigadier General on the second day of that month. He was promoted to Major General on 4 April and made Commanding General of the 2nd Armored Division 7 days later.
