History Essay

1924 through to 1929 was a time when people had a real hope that there would be no more wars and that peace would be dominant throughout their life-times. Even though war broke out again, it doesn't seem like it would during this time.

There is so many reason why people thought war would be ridden for good. One being the Dawes and Young plans, which settled reparation problems for Germany. Germany managed to make the payments required by the Dawes plan during 1924 to 1929 and she began to expand her economy. In 1926, Germany joined the League of Nations. This is very promising, considering they were given a permanent seat in the league like all the other major powers. Another reason people were very enthusiastic about this period in time is that Kellogg Pact in 1928. This pact was to renounce war all over the world. A staggering sixty five countries signed the pact, which, back then is almost the entire world. Everyone was on a high by this time, people were finally happy with their lives after the war and everything was going well. In 1929 Mr. Remarque's Anti-war novel "All Quiet on the Western Front" was a best seller in not just English but several other languages too.

In conclusion, I agree with all of these statements being true, and that people could really believe in no more war for their life time. Even though they were not correct, it is very believable and promising at this time.
