Scott Card's Book Enders Game

In Orson Scott Card's book Enders Game we meet a character by the name of Andrew Wiggins normally called after his nickname Ender. He is a six year old boy who is born to be an outsider. Ender was born as a third child, which in this government ruled society is something families don't have. However the government asked Wiggins family to have a third child (Ender) because of how well Enders older siblings turned out. Ender is an isolated person at the start of the book and when Ender is either isolated, or angry he can control any situation. Ender normally is a shy young boy until tempered, he is always thinking about how to solve the problem at hand. Card is setting Enders life up to be an isolated one. Card made Enders living, and sole purpose to be a commander in the great fight against buggers.

Ender in this book is set out to be a good, and evil person. Whenever Ender gets angry there is a passion in him that comes out, another side to him that is rarely seen. " He kicked Stilson in the face. Blood from his nose spattered the ground nearby. It wouldn't be this bad, Ender said. It would be worse."(Pg.8) When Ender gets angry he has a rage in him that makes him stronger and more powerful then ever. The military know this and want him for it. Ender is also a nice natured person at times. He really does not want to go into the military but feels the need to. The reason is mainly due to his sister Valentine, and his whole family. Ender feels if he does not help out with the Military it's possible that buggers could kill Valentine, and Ender could never let that happen he loves her too much. This is also his sole purpose to living, the only reason he is alive is because his brother was to out there, and his sister was to mild. "It was what I was born for, isn't it? If I don't go, why am I alive"' 'Not good enough,' Graff said. 'I don't want to go,' said Ender, 'but I will."(Pg.26). The relationship with Ender and his family is good. His parents gave up their religions just to have him. They love him, and resent him at the same time. However its Peter of his family that he hates. Ender always tries to full himself into believing that he does not. Ender is a part of Peter. He has a side of him that is just like Peter. For example Peter and Ender both have big tempers, but Enders only comes out when he is provoked. Ender is practically Peter but also with a half of Valentine in him. Valentine was the mild one. Ender had more Peter in him than anything though. "No he had meant to hurt him and had pulled with all his strength."(Pg.33)
