Movies, Films, Delinquency, & Crimes and Payne Fund Studies

It is agreed upon that motion pictures does have a direct and an indirect delinquency to crime. The reading, Movies, Delinquency, & Crimes, gives a number of criminal cases made by young teenagers/males that were heavily influenced by the criminal films they were exposed to. These films are giving teenagers/males the idea that it is 'okay' and 'cool' to encounter in delinquent actions to get what they want. It gives them more motivation when the criminal characters in the films are able to get away from their punishment crime(s). A direct contact is shown when teenagers actually goes out and commit the crime after they have seen the movie. Just like when the white, 17 year old, Jewish male stealing a quarter from the register just because he wanted to go see a show instead of simply asking someone for a quarter. These crime starts out as minor crimes and usually they are able to get away with. However, when committing a crime, like stealing, becomes a habit serious crimes are committed when higher value items are being stolen. As bigger crimes are being committed the numbers of criminals' committed together increases as well. Just like the white Polish male and his gang got the influence idea to stealing apples just like the film they saw. The sense of unity within the criminals is shown in the films which attracts young teenage boys, because it makes them feel invisible when they are together in a pack. They feel secure as a group that not only are they all encountering in some sort of crime but the 'I have your back' ideology is embedded in their minds in which they are all protected by each other and no one can pick on them. Soon stealing becomes robbery, then robbery to burglary. This becomes a full time job to these young males. The idea of easy money flashes through their minds when burglary crimes are shown in films how easy it is to steal a valuable item and make a lot of profit out of it. These crimes then is not a habit anymore, it becomes an addiction. As these crimes get worse the young males feel as if they are in power especially when they are carrying a gun. They use threats by enforcing their weapons to be able to steal what they want. Now these criminals have officially become a threat to society.

The significance influences of these motion films are implanting an ideology of high life and fast money to these young males. They perceive these types of actions as 'cool' and it is easily done depending how fast you run. The feeling of empowerment through the use of a weapon makes them feel respected by their fellow collogues and horrified by the innocent. Exposing these type of films corrupts the easily manipulated minds of young teenagers and males.
