Personal Responsibility

Personal responsibility is a learned behavior that requires effort and practice. In order to be personally responsible the needs to practice skills that will lead down the right path. Personal responsibility starts at an early age by completing chores assigned by parents during youth; listening and following directions though out elementary and high school as assigned by teachers. Asking questions concerning assignments or tasks will enable the development of necessary skills required to develop personal responsibility. Personal responsibility also means practicing and enriching skills such as study habits and setting up a regular schedule to help complete tasks on time and follow the required directions.

The relationship between personal responsibility and college success is a simple one. If the skills and effort are put into place early in life, then success in college will become a more obtainable goal. By learning to follow directions, enrich study habits and set a regular schedule, time management and new learning techniques will become more polished as academic life continues. It is every student's responsibility to develop regular study habits to ensure that the required course materials are being properly understood and that the student it ready for course examinations. It is every student's responsibility to apply new learning techniques, manage time effectively, and build confidence in their study habits.

Setting up a plan is an essential part of a student's academic success. This plan should include ways to advance the student's weakness into strengths and manage time. Time management is a large part of any plan to achieve the level of success that a student would want to achieve. Time management is sometimes hard to achieve in today's busy world, but it is an area that every student must focus on. Setting priorities and scheduling those priorities in order of importance is a wonderful place to start. Each student should make certain their academic endeavors are at the top of their priority list and the other items will fall into place. The important thing for students to remember is, they will have time for other social and fun activities once the academic adventure is completed.

Research and Organization

The sources used here have been determined to be a reliable and relevant source for personal responsibility in the student's education. Each source has been reviewed and obtains information that can be useful in each student's academic life. Useful information on how to become a more effective and productive student can be found in these sources as well as conflicts or problems that may arise and how to deal with them.

Each source can be determined to be reliable based on the date of publication. The publication date is a key factor in determining if a source is a relevant one. If the date is recent, there is a higher chance that the information is more recent and based on recent findings the facts will be more accurate. There is a greater risk that the information can be out-of-date, depending on the age of the publication.

A good way to check the reliability of a source is to verify the origin of the source. By checking the sources of a published book the student can determine if the information in the cited source contains reliable information or not. The Internet is slightly different. The reliability is determined by the extension of the website. Educational websites will normally have the extensions of .edu or .org.

The author of each source does not bias the student one way or another but gives helpful tools and information to understand better how to be a more responsible student throughout one's academic life. Each author will give an example and information
