The killing fields is a very sad book its about the civil wars in Cambodia with all of the rebellions going on about communism. The Russian ways influence Cambodia into the government of communism and the fighting between the people who want it and the people who don't. The story starts out with the journalist who travels from new York to get the really story on what's happening in Cambodia and the day he gets there the us clams the accidentally dropped a bomb on a city and the journalist happens to be right there to whiteness the horrible slaughter of the innocent people. He goes to the us embassy to find out what went wrong and they would not tell him if they did drop that bomb or they did not. He ended up finding one of his best friends and going into the heart of Cambodia to see what's really happening and all he finds is a destroyed city and a lot of injured and dead children. This shocks him because he knows the us would not do something like that so he looks into it and gets captured by the communist Cambodians trying to influence there county into communism. Eventually his Cambodian friend convinces the criminals to let them go and not kill them because the Americans are of value to Cambodia and that they will report to the us that the communist Cambodians are good people and only want the best for there country and that communism is the only correct way of government. When they get out of the criminals reach they travel to the us embassy to await some way to get home. They are there for two weeks before the united states gives them a ride back to New York city and when he gets back he prints all of his pictures and tells America of what is going on in that horrible mess of a country. The military deny's any of that ever happening and the rest of the country believes the military. The military says that the spead of communism is not happening anymore and that south east Asia is at rest. The journalist knowing that this is a lie can not figure out why they are lying. But he eventually gets his proof from his friend and almost dies doing it because of how bad the fighting is over there and the fact that the Russians are moving into Cambodia. The Russians are just causing more problems and more fighting so the unrest continues to this day.
