Almost every kid grows up playing sports. Youth sports have a huge influence on the way we act to others and we will react in life situation as we get older. As I was a kid growing up sports had a big influence on me, it though me all my morals and values that I continue to use today.in the fallowing paragraphs I will talk about how youth sports helped me become the person that I am today and how it shaped my morals and values.

As I was growing up the first recreational sport that I was played was baseball. My dad signed me up for tee ball when I was 5 years old. The first day of practice I was introduced to a man by the name of George Salinas. Mr. Salinas was my baseball coach for the next 7 years. During those 7 years Mr. Salinas taught me many of my morals, but the two morals that standout to me is respect and hard work ethic. Respect to me is my biggest moral and the one that I make sure I give to people and they give to me. While I was growing up I use to have a really short temper. I would get mad at the fact that I didn't get to hit first in batting practice or be the starting pitcher. Once I got mad I would start to down talk the other kids that got to go in front of me and make fun of them. One day I came to practice and my coach picked on me the whole time and made me run laps every time I made a mistake. Towards the end of practice I was extreamlly mad. I didn't like the fact that I was getting picked on for no reason and treated unfairly. After practice that night my coach stopped by my house and had a talk with. He told me about basic respect and how every person I meet deserves respect. The main thing I took from that conversation was when he told me that giving people respect will take u a lot further in life. To this day I make sure that I give people there respect. Showing and giving people respect can only be a positive factor in everyone's life. By showing respect at school, work and my home has given me many opportunities that I wouldn't have been able to receive if I didn't respect the people around me. I didn't like being disrespected at all. It was one of those moments in my life were I knew that I didn't want to feel like that again. So I made sure that I never disrespected someone without giving them a chance to be respectful to me. The other big moral me, Salinas taught me was having a good and hard work ethic. He told me that whatever I put into work, school, sports, or just life in general is what you will get out of life, if you don't practice or study you won't succeed or get the results that you want. I use to not really care about practice because it wasn't a game and nothing really mattered. My coach noticed that I was just playing around during practice and not taking it serious. He told me that I was wasting my talent and that if I practiced twice as hard as I played during game time I would be an unbelievable player. I always wanted to be the best on my team and be the biggest star. The problem was that I didn't want to practice I just wanted to become that good of a baseball
