Introduction to Film

For this assignment in which we had to choose a character in which we thought we were like the most, I chose Olive from Easy A. Although a lot of people would beg to differ, I find that Olive and myself have a lot of things that are similar.

The ways that I and Olive are similar would be the fact that we're both very sarcastic and outspoken. I always say what's on my mind, even if it can come off a bit rude. In the movie there is a girl named Maryann whom she cannot stand. There are several accounts where Olive is sarcastic with Maryann in the movie, Maryann would ask Olive a question and she would answer back with a false answer in a sarcastic tone. Olive is also extremely outspoken, she gets talked about a lot in the movie, but she always has something to say. In one scene Olive is in class and a girl in her class called her a "trashy whore" so Olive replied to her by calling her some equally rude names. This shows that she's not afraid to stick up for herself.

Another few ways in which Olive and I are alike are that she's very open, and she bottles up her emotions. I know those two kind of contradict themselves but it's true. Olive is not afraid to admit anything to anyone, yet she hides her emotions deep inside. I am in no way afraid to tell people anything, but when it comes to showing emotions it's something I'm hard with.

There isn't very many differences between myself and Olive, the only one I can really think of is how she acts half way through the movie. This movie is based on a lie that she tells, someone over heard her conversation with her friend about sex and that person told everyone at school that she slept around with a lot of guys. So throughout the movie Olive becomes very per vocative which is something I would never do.

A moment in which I would do something differently than Olive would be when she started playing along with the lies of her being a "tramp". She began to dress very inappropriately and acting that way as well. She may have became more popular but it's not worth it.
