Remember the Titans - Movie Review

Racism has been around for many years. Slavery is one of the most dominant ways of teaching racism now. People use to get beat and killed depending on their skin color. Not only did it happen with African Americans but it also happened with the Hitler takeover. Some of those people got killed depending on their skin color. It's a cruel thing that has been around for a very long time. Every race has been hit by it in some type of way. Many problems in our world have revolved around race and ethnicity. Many altercations have occurred due to racial discrimination.

The movie Remember the Titans was a good film that portrayed a lot of racial discrimination. Based off a true story the movie was released in 2000. Coach Herman Boone, played by Denzel Washington, was an African American coach that was brought in to help be over the newly integrated football team. When they brought him in to help he caught hell from the rest of the coaching staff as well as catching problems from upset parents. Because of his race, it was hard for him to be accepted and the white people didn't take him having such a high position very well. Due to the time of this taking place, racial integration was still fairly new and an African American wasn't expected to have such a high role in their work.

Coach Boone and Coach Yoast had two completely different coaching styles. Coach Boone used a combination of achievement oriented and directive leadership approach while Coach Yoast, Will Patton, used a more supportive style of leadership. One can only assume whether this had anything to do with their upbringing.

Boone faced an unruffled reception from the team's players as well as developing an awkward relationship with assistant coach Yoast. The men learn to overcome the ignorance taking place and realize they have much more in common than they thought. They share one common goal, which is to have a winning season, and end up uniting a lot of people.
