Although television is perceived as one of the greatest scientific inventions of the 20th century and is watched enormously by the American public, it is often criticized as the root of intellectual destruction for children. Television has been praised throughout history for its ability to transmit visual images with accompanying sound to entertain, educate, and to provide a sense of truth. Moreover, The average person watches on average ten to fifteen hours of television during a week. This seems like an awful lot of time to be sitting in front of a television, but this time can be extremely educational and entertaining. A television equipped with a cable system has a number of educational channels. For example, PBS, The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, The Food Channel, and even MTV are all educational channels. Documentaries, ranging from The Civil War to baseball to home repair are always airing on television. A person can learn things from television that they otherwise never would have even heard about. In other words television can be a great instrument in educational learning. People are taking television as a educational instrument who teaches their child things quickly and fast and also it is helpful for them as they don't have time to spend with their child and teach them. Also channels are publishing more shows to attract viewers for example Brad Adgate stated "CBS has been able to replenish its lineup as older shows fade". (Reader II, Brian Stelter).Although, I am also same position as other people I spent most of my time watching Television. I came home straight on my TV before anything else. This explains us that how Much Television has a huge impact on our society. Every year no. of viewers are increasing and also Channels are increasing the no. of shows on their channel to attract more viewers. Television is specially attracting children and teens. As me a in a youth position could tell that I m so addicted to television that I cannot stay an hour without watching Television. This shows that how much television affecting today's youth life. It has both positive and negative impacts. However, Entertainment is also another major part of why television is such a great tool. Everyone loves to be entertained and watching television is a pleasurable experience. People think Television is also a best thing not make ourselves bore. All in all Television is an important factor of people's life.
