Self-Concept is learned:

When we were still going through our chiildhood, our experiences were mere pebbles that soon become a strong foundation to who we are right now. There would be events that could be inspiring or traumatizing that could affect our means of growing. Since self-concept is developed through experience - ANYTHING that happened to us in the past with our experiences, memories and feelings is an implecation of who we are right now.

We are different from one another, there are still things or attributes that we want which we don't have, different feelings could be felt like journey and the loss of our self-esteem which is a big factor that sooner or later we view things in a pessimistic manner. Individuals perceive themselves in ways different from others see them. This implecation of self-concept can change the way we look ourselves dramatically and by means of that negative ideas about ourselves.

People would see us in a way of how we show ourselves to them but most of the time it is not, it is rather a dissappointing thing. No matter of how we are, or who we are. We just can't change of ourselves to just please them. Now, it is a threat because, we are the only ones who knows the inner us but dues to these things, sometimes it is too hard but we have to. We lose ourselves to someone new, to someone in the eyes of many is already pleasing. So where is the old self? Sometimes it will be just gone.
