The
 Integrative Statement
 is to foster the interaction between students and the educator. Drawing on my three postings the theme has been
 Code
 of
 Ethics, Confidentiality, values, morals, beliefs and maintaining appropriate boundaries in the counseling context.

In my opinion values we are have are the fundamental beliefs that inspire us to act and gain identity personally and professionally. Therefore it is beneficial for the counselors to persevere there own beliefs, values and attitudes in order to understand and respect their clients values, rather then imposing their values onto their clients. It is imperative that counselors assist their clients to find out their own values. Code of Ethics does reflect professional values, but in this instance therapists have no choice. They all have to adhere to the code irrespective of what their values may be. So Code of Ethics is not a practitioner's values but a value that underpins the principals of practice (PACFA, 2011). A counsellor should be
 completely
 committed
 to
 the
 highest
 standards
 of
 ethical
 conduct
 in
 managing circumstances and issues that may arise. The counsellor also is required to provide an appropriate guidance to the client when required to be able to establish a professional relationship also to enable to work through issues. It
 is
 extremely
 imperative
 for
 every
 counsellor
 to
 safeguard
 the
 clients proprietary
 information and maintain clients confidentiality and to
 decline
 any form of
 inappropriate
 access (PACFA, 2011).

It has been unfortunate that due to unforeseen circumstances ie: my baby and my self being unwell for an extended period of time, I feel I wasn't able to get the full benefits of participating and contributing in the discussion boards. However I feel like I have learnt a lot and gained knowledge around the social, legal and ethical issues in relation to being a successful counsellor. I aim to refer back to my fellow students discussion boards and having a read for my own development.

Discussion One
