New research suggests diabetes transmitted from parents to children

In this article, they talk about inheritance maybe be the reason that diabetes rates are rising

so much, in children and young adults. They say that DNA is a primary mechanism being that a

child gets his or her genes half from their mother and half from their father. What scientist are

trying to find all the different types of inheritance and try to have an understanding about them

such as metabolic programming, which occurs when an insult during a critical period of

development, either in the womb or soon after birth, triggers permanent changes in metabolism.

Some people who would read would not be surprised about this scientific find, because

it's has always been said that if one's family has a certain disease that runs on that side of the

family. So this article didn't really raise any awareness about anything because when people go

to their doctors for their check-ups or when they try to get information about what diseases run in

your family like cancer or diabetes, high blood pressure and such.

This article would be good for someone who has ever wondered if they were ever at risk

to contract the disease because of their genetics. It could give a direct introspect in what could be

possible and what would be the necessary for people to prevent the disease. Overall the article

was a good read it gave me some information being that diabetes runs in my family that's why

the article was a good find, just for the sort of people who don't go to the doctor and get

checkups, other than that the article is a no-brainer to most

How Purple corn and RNA break genetic laws

There is research that is being conducted called paramutation by experimenting on corn so

this newly cloned gene in corn will help unusual interactions between a parents genes can have

lasting effects in future generations. The finding has implications for breeding crop plants and

unraveling complex genetic diseases. But doing this sort of mutation doesn't follow the laws of

classical Mendelian genetics

They are also using this research to look into the gene connection to parents and children

they say that when a offspring inherits genes from their parents, the genes function in the next

generation. The gene functions differently in the offspring, even though its DNA is identical to

the parent's version.
