Advances in technology provided the population an abundance of food supply. However, with

the growth of the population the food production will become scarce once again. While the

scarcity is a known fact researchers have tried mass production of certain foods (EX: beef, pork

& milk) with immoral practices to make an abundance of food. This was done by using steroids

to quicken and fatten the growth of the animals, which led to human illnesses or even death. The

FDA is required to make sure whatever is consumed is researched and tested and proven healthy

to humans.

PETA quoted "Raising animals for food requires massive amounts of food, land and water

and contributes to animal suffering." Over 260 millions of U.S. forests have been cleared to grow

grain to feed animals. Livestock grazing is the number one reason that the plant species are

threatened and risks the chance of extinction. (PETA) Animals are inefficient for consumption

because they need to feed on large quantities of grain, oats, corn and soybeans; in return they

only produce small amounts of meat, dairy products or eggs. Also according to PETA,

production of animals plays a serious role in the strain on our water supply. With nearly half of

our water supply used goes to raising animals, cleaning the factories where animals are

slaughtered, the drinking water for the animals as well as watering the crops grown for the

animals. (Turk J. & Bensel T. 2011)

Pollution and fecal contamination is a problem that escapades from making animals products.
