In the modern society, it is very common to see teenagers working everywhere in the city. Whether they are doing the paper route or working voluntarily at the library, they are preparing for their future. School may not be the best place to prepare for the outside working world where experience matter, but working at a young age could layer experience on top of experience which could later be of use to a young adult. So having a part-time job is a great opportunity to learn about responsibility and the value of money, and to build a stronger and more effective personality. We'll discuss these advantages in the following.

First, working in a job gives teenagers lots of situations in which they should act responsibly; if not, they will lose their jobs. For example, one has to wake up early if his working hours start at 8:00 in the morning, no matter how late he stayed up last night. Otherwise, his supervisor will warn him and eventually fire him. In addition, showing devotion to the job may lead to bonuses, raises and even promotions which will encourage the student to be more responsible about his occupation.

A further advantage is that working enables the students to understand the value of money and that "Money does not grow on trees". After the student sees how hard he has to work to earn money, he will also be more reasonable while spending it, therefore, his purchasing behavior will be enhanced. Moreover, teenagers who have jobs while they are studying learn to fend for themselves. They may use the money earned to pay their school fee or may use it as their pocket money. They learn how difficult it is to earn money. This will make them appreciate the efforts put in by their parents to support the family.

Finally, a part-time job teaches the student how to cooperate and the importance of cooperation. In a work setting usually the employees have to depend on each other on numerous occasions. When a single employee loafs, others will have to compensate for his workload in addition to their own tasks. Students will learn from their working experience the importance of cooperation and why every individual should effectively carry out his own work. Furthermore it builds up his social and communication skills; it will also expand his self-confidence when applying for jobs after his graduation.

In conclusion, working while studying is not a bad idea as most students and parents conceive. If students can balance their work and school, they will learn outside of their classroom. They will be ready to face reality.
