The Pros and Cons of a Teenager having a Cell Phone

The mobile phone is an increasing subject on the human mind especially in the teenage mind. A cell phone for a teenager is basically what their life revolves around due to the fact that all their information is in their phone. It influences how they interact with humans. A cell phone can cause a distraction when dealing with certain events but at the same time could also be a tool. Finally teenagers have an unusual attachment to their phones which in itself is a pro and a con. There are many pros and cons when it comes to teenagers and cell phone usage.

Human interaction has changed tremendously because of modern technology such as cell phones. Through cell phones we connect with other people even if we aren’t face to face. We have social media, texting, and emailing all through a machine. This creates a wall when talking to a person, or a disconnect; it is quite different than being in someone’s physical presence. Teenagers are a great example of interaction through cell phones because they are so connected to them, they talk to their friends and family and are always able to reach them. Another example, specifically for teenagers is having a cell phone during school. It is a great tool but also a great distraction. The phone allows you to use a calculator in math class or looking up a date for history class. But along with these features cell phones cause distractions like texting or cheating on a quiz when the teacher isn’t looking. In a teenager’s life a cell phone is a not only a tool but also a distraction and this comes from the attachment teenagers form with their phones.

The attachments teenagers form with their phone comes from always having it around not only because it’s a tool but all because it distracts us from the world and their whole life is on it. The connection that a teenager forms with their phone is a good and bad thing. For example, if you were in an emergency situation you would have your phone right by your side, and you could call someone for help. But if you didn’t have you phone by your side would you know how to handle
