So what is android? I think the answer is clear. But by definition android is a mobile operating system for mobile touch screen devices such as smart phones or tablets.  This operating system developed by Google and is based on the Linux kernel.  It is important to emphasize that android is built on the Linux kernel, but it is not Linux.

Android was founded in California in 2003 (two thousands and three ) by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner,  Nick Sears and Chris White .

In the beginning the company was intended to develop operating system for digital cameras. But when it was realized that the market for the devices was not large enough, the company choose a smart phone market.

In 2005, Google bought Android for at least $50 million dollars.

The first smart phone with running Android was the HTC Dream, released in 2008. Until this year, Android has seen numerous updates. Engineers add new functions and fixing bugs in previous version.

6

The history of the Android mobile operating system began with the Android alpha. It was released in 2008. Versions 1.0 and 1.1 were not released under specific code names, but later Android versions have had confectionery-themed code names. Each in alphabetical order.

What about security. Android is a multi-process system, in which each application (and pats of the system) runs in its own process. Security system between applications and the system is enforced at the process level trough standard Linux facilities, such as user and group IDs that are assigned to applications.

Android is designed to have multi layer security which provides flexibility for this platform. When attackers attempt to attack on device, android platform helps to reduce the portability of the attack.

So even before we install an app, we know that android checked that it’s safe.

There are some advantages for android. First of all Multitasking –Android phones can run many applications, it means you can browse, Facebook while listened to the song. Also android has ease of Notification – Any message will always have a notification on the Home Screen. the LED indicator is blinking, so you will not miss a single Email or even Miscalls.

The next good thing is Google App Market – you can download applications for free. There ate thousands of applications and games so you can use it. And the last thing android Supports all google services ranging from gmail to google maps.

And now I have to mention a few bad things about android. First of  all it is Little Memory for Storage - You can have a memory card in your phone, but the system storage is small and you have to be very careful with your storage. Next problem is Mobile data Connection - Android has large number of background process, which eats so much mobile data. And this cost lots of money if you are not using wifi or have unlimited data plan. And the worst thing is Battery Problem. As I said android has background process, so it use a lot of mobile battery.
