This it was a hard decision because PCs had been essential to their transformation; the main problem they had was the network for all 19 locations made data management difficult, also clinicians were not saving their files to the, instead of the server this can led to a problem when it comes to protecting patients privacy is made it imposable to track who was acceding those records, this can also cause data to be lost as record were not saved on the server that was backed up nightly, because hard drives are not reliable for backups , Norwood was also having bandwidth issues that was causing delays on clinical reports. The tried to fix this issue with phone lines doing overnight downloads data the drawback to this was transmissions will failed sometimes overnight leaving them without updated information this lead to low quality care and potential liability additionally it could take hours to diagnose a problem. Norwood decided to choose thin client technology, the way it works all data gets processed on a central server computer no longer required to have a hard disc drive. They began by purchasing Microsoft Windows and Hewlett Packard Prolight servers, the next step was to install thin clients and substitute PCs all information is centralized on severs headquarters data can be access easily and quickly from all facilities no matter where or at what time personal is working; the system crates backup among servers in case of server failure; the user will be routed to different severs to ensure information is available when needed and ensures patients records are secured if updates need a technician can conduct this tasks in minutes from headquarters there is no longer need for a full time IT technician to fix each PC and they can also monitor work that has been completed, Northwood new structured Query Language SQL platform is more flexible, it allowed employees
