Accuracy of data input is important. What method of data input would be best for each of the following situations and why:

Human interface devices would be beneficial for printed questionnaires, telephone surveys, and long documents. Keyboards can be utilized by human hands that can type in the information rapidly but even better would be the use of a voice recognition program for accurate input of this type of information.

Source data automation would be most beneficial for bank checks and retail tags since these items can be scanned by either bar codes or specialized numerals for easy of reading. This type of input is important so that errors are minimized and also speeds up the data input because of the quickness of the equipment to read and decipher the information.

Convenience and quality of output are important. Explain what method of output would be best for each of the following situations and why:

A hand-held computer does not give to many choices for outputs unless it is equipped with the proper ports. If not, then an attached thermal printer works best, like those used by delivery personnel. Otherwise a handheld can be plugged into any type of printer that would support the connection.

Memorandums and any other type of quick note can be sent via e-mail to other recipients or even as a text message these days (although this is not recommended). Memos can also be printed up on a simple black and white printer and dispersed accordingly.

There are two types of storage, primary and secondary. Primary storage devices, such as RAM, ROM, Cache, and Registers are the type storage devices that hold some programs and small bits of information from that program that will be used immediately as close to the CPU as possible. RAM works with electrical charges so if there is a brown out or electrical surge, all that was being held will be lost immediately.

Secondary storage devices consist of the hard disk, floppy disk, CD ROM, tape, and flash or jump drives. These types of storage devices can hold mass amounts of information, some measured as high as in terabytes. Hard disk storage can hold large amounts of data over an extended period of time, and the information
