Searching for Information on Google

Searching for information on Google is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Is that true? Was the library of the 19th century more efficient? Explain.

I believe that searching for information on Google is like finding a needle in a haystack. When you search for a certain topic you end up getting a lot of articles that show up. You never know if a website is credible or not because it doesn't say until you know what your looking for in a credible website. There are no filters on google and it just pulls up whatever it can find with all the key words. It can also cause readers to get false information about a few different websites that have the same information on it. So you have to be really careful what your searching for when on the internet. I think the library of the 19th Century is more efficient because of the fact that people have a better understanding of information they are looking up. It shouldn't be compared to Google because with the library, you know your getting credible information rather than having to deal with non credible information.

How is searching in a specific database, such as Ashford's library, different from searching in Bing, Google, or Yahoo?

Searching in the Ashford library is really the same in a way in searching in Bing, Google, and Yahoo. They all provide the same information about your topic your writing about or researching. The only difference with the Ashford library I believe is you get nothing but credible articles, newspaper articles and such. Google, and Bing pull up tons of information and it most of it could not be reliable. So depending on the person, its up to them if they want to spend hours at a time looking up information and going through articles that seem credible or just stick with the Ashford library where you know everything is reliable.

Is email dead for teenagers? Explain

I would have to say yes, I believe it is dead for teenagers. With all the social websites out there, ex: MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter. Kids these days are more connected through those social sites rather than emailing. You don't hear to much these days with people emailing one another. Its all about texting and communicating through your Facebook page. I would have to say I use my Facebook rather than emailing. I mainly stick to emailing for work purposes only or to get in contact with teachers or classmates. I think teenagers like the idea of social sites rather than email because they can just post pictures rather than having to download and attach them to a email documents, which comes in handy. Another thing that would portray in emailing being dead to teenagers would be the fact that they are texting more. Everywhere you look you see someone on his or her phone texting, which can put email to shame anytime.
