What is the one thing that a virus a worm spyware and malicious code have in common? What are the differences among these four threats: a virus, a worm, spyware, and a malicious code?

A virus is a type of malware that propagates by inserting a copy of itself into and becoming part of another program. Worms are standalone software and do not require a host program or human help to propagate. Spyware works by getting into your computer system for the purpose of taking partial control over your use, or collecting personal information without your knowledge. And malicious code (Malicious Software) is software used to disrupt computer operation, gather sensitive information, or gain access to private computer systems.

How often should you update your anti-virus?

It should be daily. Some software does it automatically.

Why is it a best practice to have and to carry an antivirus boot-up disc or CD?

Because some malware would corrupt enough damage to not able to perform activities to use the antivirus security.

What other anti-malicious software and anti-malicious code applications are included with Avira under the Real-Time Shields Application? What risk and threats do these help mitigate?

Depends on how often scans its ran versus the activity with the web.
