Just making a prediction, from my point of view- both stories should have same aspects, first of all and mainly because these stories are written in the same book that means, that all stories which are written there should have a common plot. Speaking about "Beginning of the Tournament" and "A game of cards" particularly, these two stories actualy have a common plot and on my opinion this common plot is the idea of tournaments in both stories.
The main plot from the very beginning stands for the first differences, these differences are tournaments or games that are described in each story. In the story called- "Beginning of the Tournament" people where playing hockey, some of the participants where preparing for the tournament, just to be better than anyone else in the Grand Parade that was a usual tradition of this tournament and toke place just before it. That is why this tournament was like a tradition, everything was based on it and everyone was preparing to be the best there. In a story- "A Game of Cards" the game sounds simmilar to the name of the story, that means, that all was based on the cards game that was played as usual every Saturday in the homestead of Nani Miro.
Second difference is the amout of games that were played in a year. In "Beginning of the Tournament" the game passed once a year on a Easter Holidays that is why people were waiting this tournament a lot. In "A game of cards" a game was played each
week, because of that we can predict that this game was played around 52 times in a time period of one year. There is a huge difference between 52 and 1.
Third difference is that in "A Game of Cards" players knew how to play the game that they were playing and actually they where playing pretty good. It is really impossible to tell the same about "Beginning of the Tournament", we can see that, through the phrase of son- "If you hadn't played the game before and you didn't know what to do when the ball came your way, don't worry about it". The attitude of players and organization in a hockey tournament was really dreadful, probably it was because of the fact that- "not the game's important but because coming is important". In "A Game of Cards" Nani Miro was always at what was called 'the top table', she was a great player, who always cheated and actually cheated a lot just to be first and to win the game. She couldn't play without some kind of tricks. That means that players who played cards were completely an opposite of the hockey players, even because they used cheats. That shows not just the game knowledge, but knowledge of tricks as well.
Forth difference is the place, where games toke place: in "Beginning of the Tournament" it was a paddock, which in terms of organization was even not properly prepared for games. Speaking about
