Pregnant with Poverty
"Starving" "ashamed" "unfulfilled" "emptiness" "pregnant with poverty". All these words connect to one topic- Poverty. It's everywhere. IT's a global issue that affects us all. The question is, what's being done about it? Poverty is a very important issue that needs to be looked upon. There are many reasons why this issue is so important. Also, there are many things we can do to help solve it and many benefits that come from doing just that.
Throughout the whole world poverty is spreading. It has gotten out of control, like a snowball rolling down the mountain, getting bigger with each roll until it can't be stopped. That's why this issue is so important. If we don't deal with it soon, this snowball will keep gaining size and soon wipe us out and ruin even more people's lives. Right now, people have no clothes, no food, no homes. Life can't go on like this. It's true, some cases aren't as severe as others, but that doesn't make them any less important. These people, you can say, are "pregnant with poverty." As Dick Gregory explained Shame, "Pregnant people get strange tastes. I was pregnant with poverty. Pregnant with dirt and pregnant with smells that made people turn away. Pregnant with cold and pregnant with shoes that were never bought for me, pregnant with five other people in my bed and no Daddy in the next room, and pregnant with hunger. Paste doesn't taste too bad when you're hungry." Poverty is a serious matter, and some people are treating like as if it was nothing to worry about, as if it won't destroy lives, families, and the world.
There are many things that people can do to help those in need. There are things already being done, like churches donating food, money, and clothes. Charities are raising money to help, and soup kitchens and shelters are doing the best they can, but sadly, this isn't enough. If everyone that could would just donate a little of their spare time and money, much more could be done about this problem that is sweeping our world. Let's just say that everyone that could would donate about 10% of their income, this would probably be enough to feed all those hungry people and give them shelter and jobs. Also, if people just gave a little bit more of their time to help this situation, we could do so much more about it. We could builder more shelters for these people. These shelters could have stores at the bottom so they could have a place to live, and they could also work there to pay their bills. This would give them a place to live and also provide them with jobs.
There are many benefits that can come from trying to take this problem under control. For one, there comes the satisfaction from helping these people and knowing that we had something to do with saving lives. Also,
