Part One: Investigating Environmental Groups

Using the internet, find an environmental group that you would be willing to join and actively participate in. This group could be a local, state, regional, national, or international group dealing with any environmental or sustainability issue or cause. You don't have to actually join the group - the purpose of this exercise is for you to investigate various environmental groups.

Provide the following information about the group:

* What environmental group would you join?

National Wildlife Federation

* List the group's website.

www.nwf.org

* What is the group's Mission Statement?

"To inspire Americans to protect wildlife for our children's future."

* What are some of the group's core beliefs?

-Finding solutions to the climate crisis

-Turning inside kids out; which encourages kids to go outside and play and explore.

-Safeguarding America's wildlife and wild places ; the fast developments of city's and towns is leaving lots of animal species with fewer places to call home.

* How long has the group been active?

Since 1936

* What are some of the actions taken by the group?

Has secured and closed, through our allotment retirement program, more than 500,000 acres of public land to grazing in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in order to restore and protect prime wildlife habitat.

* How does the group support what you believe in?

I believe that we should conserve our wildlife and their main goal is protecting the wildlife.

* Why would you pick this group to join?

It's a worldwide group and it covers most of the important topics to me. They cover Global Warming and protecting the wildlife and they teach kids to get outside and play instead of sitting inside playing video games all day.
