The issue of depending on oil on a global scale has been in question for a long time with suggestions that application of alternative sources of energy will eliminate dependency. Due to the argument on this, it is important to weigh the options on how each of the two is true and how they work, hence the essence of this essay.

Alternative sources of energy are the answer to an oil free word by cutting on consumption of oil-based products. This is because, alternative source of energy are cleaner as compared to the use of oil-based products that lead to the pollution of the environment and its overall damage. By using alternative sources of energy and avoiding oil, the benefits are passed on to the environment, which will be cleaner and with fresh air. By having these alternative energy sources, it will be difficult to resume the usage of dirty sources of energy that impact of the environment negatively through spills, smoke during combustion and instability in oil producing nations. As such, the overall discovery and usage of alternative sources of energy will see countries that produce cease to be in the chaos over oil prices and other countries fighting to control oil-mining rights (Kendall-Taylor, 2011). Oil has caused political, economic and social conflict, which can be eliminated by using alternatives. This way, dependence on oil will cease and peace will prevail over the regions in chaos over oil and oil related disputes. Looking at the economic consequences of using oil, it is fair to say that oil costs plenty concerning jobs and financial deficits as millions of dollars are spent on oil imports, which leads to loss of jobs or opportunities to create jobs in the country (Coughlan, 2012). As a result, alternative energy sources will see creation of jobs, while oil use denies people the very revenue that they need to improve their lives. Therefore, alternative sources of energy are energy are the solution to oil dependency as they have more benefits as compared to demerits in environment, economic and social concerns.
