Quote Journal

In Mr. Murphy's class we started a quote journal on The Odyssey and wrote down quotes that represent metaphors, similes, and symbolism. My first quote says, "He clutched at my companion and caught two in his hands like squirming puppies represents a simile. This quote shows a metaphor by saying it is comparing his companions to squirming puppies. "Cries burst from both as keen and fluttering as those of the great taloned hawk." shows a metaphor, as my second quote. The quote shows that their tears were as sharp as the talons of a hawk. For my final quote, "But when he heard Odysseus' voice nearby, he did his best to wag his tail, nose down, with flattened ears, having no strength to move nearer his master" shows an example of symbolism. This quote shows Argus, even though after many years later he still shows love by wagging his tail and trying to show excitement for his old master.
