Brain tumors

There is a process in the body where cells die as the body makes new cells but sometimes the process can go wrong to the point where the old cells do not die as they should and the new cells keep increasing causing a type of growth or tumor . There are different types of brain tumors, brain tumors can be Benign or Malignant Benign this kind dose not contain cancerous cells they can be removed and its very rare for them to grow back. Benign the area where its at can be see quite clearly they don't try to infect the tissue around them and usually don't spread to other areas of the body but they can grow and press upon sensitive areas of the body causing healthy problems depending on where it grows. Benign tumors in the body are hardly ever life threatening unless in the brain the brain tumor can actually sometimes be life threatening but they hardly ever become a Malignant tumor.

Malignant tumors these tumors contain cancerous cells that can infect the tissue around the area that the tumor is attached to and can spread to other parts of the body these type of tumors are more dangerous and are often life threatening. They also grow more rapidly its a rare thing should a part of the cells break off and spread to other parts of the brain but it can happen and even to other parts of the body when its spreads its called metastasis. They also have grades for tumors the grade is decided 1 by what type of tumor you have and 2 by how fast it is developing and 3 how the cells look under a microscope. The grades go from 1 to 4 with 4 being the highest and 1 being the lowest grade.

Tumors that begin in the actual tissue of the brain is called a primary brain tumor, primary brain tumors are made from glial cells there are different types of gliomas one is Astrocytoma which is actually a star shaped cell referred to as astroctyes. In adults it can grow in the cerebrum and in children it can grow in the brain stem, cerebrum, and cerebellum. These types are mainly in grade 3 to 4 if its a grade 3 its is known as grade 3 astrocytoma also referred to as anaplastic astroctyes there is also a grade 4 its called Glioblastoma multiforme. Then there is Brain stem glaucoma it is located at lowest spot of the brain and is usually found in children up to middle aged adults. Ependymoma it comes for the cells that line the the central canal of the spinal cord its usually found in most children and teenagers. Oligodendroglioma this is a rare kind of tumor that uses fat cells from the fat that protects the nerves they do not spread through the body they are mainly found in the cerebrum they grow very slowly they are found in middle aged adults.

There are some brain tumors that don't start with glial cells the ones that are found most are Medulloblastoma its usually located in the cerebellum it is mostly found in children. Schwannoma this is from a Schwann cell these cells surround the nerves that are in control of balance and hearing its in the inner ear its mostly found in adults. Craniopharyngioma its located at the base of the skull near the pituitary
